FBI issues warning about malware-containing internet devices

Last year, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a warning about internet-connected devices such as off-brand Android TV streaming devices, digital projectors, aftermarket vehicle infotainment systems, digital picture frames and other products that used the BADBOX 2.0 botnet to conduct criminal activity.

Malware-containing devices, as well as some free VPN services and other downloaded apps, can also use residential proxy networks to perform malicious activity.  This may allow unknown third parties to connect to a user's home internet service for without prior consent or awareness.
